The name "Buttcovers" originated as a fond household word that company founder, Don Noble, used with his son, Ellis, in 1996. One day, Ellis (then 5) was running around the house naked after a bath. Don instructed his son to put on his underwear while Ellis continued to race around nude. Finally, Don jokingly told his son to put on his "buttcovers" and amazingly, Ellis obeyed.
Soon after "Buttcovers" became a staple in the Noble family vocabulary, Don Noble conceived the idea for the Jr. Buttcover® Boxers product line. As an airline pilot, Don traveled the United States far and wide and met a variety of people. He had some sample Jr. Buttcover® Boxers made and took them with him on his travels in search of feedback from the public. The response was unanimously enthusiastic. Everyone wanted to know where they could buy their own Buttcover® Boxers. It was then that Don Noble realized the potential behind the unique name and began to envision Buttcover® Boxers for every sex and age.
In preparation for launching the Buttcovers business, Don Noble attended trade shows, sought professional advice, and perfected Buttcover® Boxers' production process. Since then, Buttcover® Boxers has evolved into a diverse product line of boxer shorts and loungewear. Buttcover® Boxers has received excellent press from the astounding number of charities (link to Charitable Giving page) it donates its products to each year. In 2002, Buttcover® Boxers was an official donor of the Today Show's Annual Christmas Toy Drive. Buttcover® Boxers continues to grow and cultivate retail interest internationally and nationwide.
